VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- An off-duty Visalia Police serviceman helped halt a theft astatine a Home Depot parking batch connected Saturday afternoon.

Shortly aft 1:30 p.m., officers responded to the Home Depot connected South Demaree Street for a reported theft and were advised that an off-duty serviceman was progressive successful an altercation with the suspect.

Authorities accidental 53-year-old Jimmy Aguirre had walked retired of an exigency exit with a loaded cart and, erstwhile confronted, became convulsive and walked done the parking lot.

Aguirre besides struck a car with a metallic pipe, causing damage.

An off-duty serviceman saw Aguirre and identified himself, and displayed his badge erstwhile Aguirre struck him.

The serviceman physically detained Aguirre with the assistance of a adjacent lipid changer worker until officers arrived connected the scene.

Aguirre was connected parole and was arrested and booked astatine the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Detention Facility for robbery, felony vandalism, artillery connected a bid officer, and a parole violation.
